Ron's Retirement

       Ron Coniglio was the subject of a "roast" at his retirement party at Samuel's Grande Manor on January 14th. Many family members were present, including Uncle Ray and Ray Jr. from Florida, and Shelly Miller Steht from Illinois.
        Ron's wife Debbi planned a wonderful party that recognized Ron's years of excellent service as Head Groundskeeper at Sweet Home School.
          Shelly took the occasion of her visit to inform the family that Nicholas and Marianne are expecting a blessed event, in September.

Angelo's Surgery

Young Angelo Coniglio has been in the hospital with various problems since August. He had spinal fusion in September and is now in sub-acute care. Send him a card or visit him at Room 559B, Erie County Medical Center, 462 Grider Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215.

Illinois Visitor

Aunt Connie Miller visited Aunt Mary in January, and provided moral support while Uncle Frank Sowa was in the hospital and Aunt Mary recovered from a fall (nothing broken).
Frank and Mary are feeling a little better, and Connie has returned to Danville, where Jackie Miller Feingold is busy planning a return trip to Italy. Sicily, and Serradifalco, and possibly Belgium!

More "New" Relatives

       La nostra cugina Barca Anna del Belgio la ha informato che la figlia dello mio zio Giuseppe, Coniglio Carmela, ancora vive in Serradifalco. Ho scritto lei e la sua risposta è indicata sotto.
         Ho risposto alla sua lettera e gli ho trasmesso alcune foto della famiglia. Gli ho detto che quanto felice ero "trovarla" e chiesto lei le foto della sua famiglia.

         Our cousin Anna Barca of Belgium informed me that my uncle Giuseppe's daughter, Carmela Coniglio, still lives in Serradifalco. I wrote to her, and her response is shown below.
          I responded to her letter, and sent her some family photos. I told her how happy I was to "find" her, and asked her for photos of her family.

Caro cugino, in riscontro alla intesta lettera che ho tanto gradito, prima di tutto to ti ringrazio per aver sentito il richiamo del sangue, essondo figli di fratelli, e volere notizie sulla nostra esistenza.
Ebbene si, sono Carmela figlia di tuo zio Giuseppe.
Ho 73 anni e sono sposata con Giuseppe DIFRANCESCO e ho tre figli: Due maschi e una femina.
Con la tua prossima lettera ti Prego di farmi sapere tutto di te e della tua famiglia.

Serradifalco 23 January 2006

Beloved cousin, in reply to the letter that I much appreciate, first of all I thank you for having heard the call of our common blood, we being children of brothers, and for wanting news about our existence.
Well yes, I am Carmela daughter of your uncle Giuseppe.
I am 73 years old and am married to Giuseppe DIFRANCESCO and I have three children: Two boys and one girl.
With your next letter I pray you let me know all about you and your family.
I wish you Happy New Year and send a dear embrace.

Carmela Coniglio

I also recently met with Iggie Calabrese from Nevada, who is the son of Pasquale Calabrese, who sponsored uncle Giuseppe Coniglio when he came to America. My grandmother's name was Maria Carmela Calabrese, and I'm sure that there is a connection between Iggie's family and ours. Iggie's father had the same photo of Giuseppe and Angela Alessi Coniglio that my mother Rosa had in her memorabilia.

Inoltre recentemente ho incontrato Calabrese Ignazio dal Nevada, che è il figlio di Calabrese Pasquale, che ha patrocinato lo zio Coniglio Giuseppe quando è venuto in America. Nome della mia nonna era Calabrese Maria Carmela e sono sicuro che ci è un collegamento fra la famiglia di Ignazio ed il nostra. Il padre di Ignazio ha avuto la stessa foto di Giuseppe e di Angela Alessi Coniglio che la mia madre Rosa ha avuta in suoi memorabilia.

Their family's ancestors are from Cerda, north of Serradifalco, and I haven't found a family connection yet.
