No primary records of my 4th-great grandmother Caterina Giumenta's birth, marriage, or death have been found. Her name is shown on the 1820 death record, below, of her son Giacomo Cammarata. Her children, grandchildren and subsequent generations were born or died in Serradifalco. It's not known where she herself was from. Giumenta was commonly a surname made up for abandoned children, so it's possible that Caterina was a foundling. |
