Annabel Martin

   On June 4th, 2025, at Amherst Central High School's Awards Assembly, the 29th recipient of the Angela Coniglio Memorial Scholarship was senior Annabel Martin. Angela's first cousin once removed Rebecca Coniglio Scherrer  presented the $2,500 award.

    Annabel is a three-sport athlete who has led her teams to success, and earned individual honors as well, in Flag Football, Volleyball, and Basketball, and she has captained each of those teams.
    Honors include the 2025 New York Seal of Biliteracy in Latin; and the 2024 US Naval Academy Summer STEM Program, working with Naval Officers on robotics, bioterorrism, leadership and athletics.

    Annabel also received the Amherst High School Distinguished Student Leader Award as a junior athlete and excellent role model; the Rochester Institute of Technology Art & Design Award for outstanding scholastic achievement; the Amherst High School Permanent Art Collection Award - outstanding artwork to be on permanent display in the school; a National Honor Society membership for academic excellence, leadership, service and character; and she participated in the ECIC Student Athlete Leadership Summit.

    Her participation in clubs included Student Council Pathfinder, where she was a Mentor; the Math Club, Art Club, and athletic team Captains' Club. Off Campus, Annabel has worked at various basketball and volleyball camps as a counselor.  She works as a server at the Park Country Club.

     Annabel played Varsity Flag Football for four years, three times as team captain, was a First Team All Western New York Wide Receiver, leading WNY in 2024 in receiving yards (1,226) and touchdowns (29).

     She was First Team Division 2 North, First Team All Amherst Bee, on the NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team, and a Team ECIC Student Leader.

   She played Basketball four years, twice as Varsity Captain, achieving the Section VI 2024  Championship; the 2024 NYSPHSAA Cross Training Character Award; and the NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team.  She was the team treasurer and also a member of the Travel Team

  In conjunction with her Permanent Art Display Award, she received a Certificate of Visual Arts for her Minor in Art.

   

 

   Annabel also played Volleyball for four years and captained the team twice, making the NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team, and playing Travel Volleyball.   

   Her natural aptitude and time management skills are exceptional, allowing her to balance all of her responsibilities. She is an outstanding student athlete who has excelled with Academics, Athletics, Art and Leadership.  Her character is exemplary, coupled with her positive demeanor which endears her to everyone.

   Like the previous recipients of Angela's scholarship, Annabel is an outstanding example of the qualities and causes that reflect Angela's character.

   Annabel will study Mechanical Engineering at Duquesne University.
