Samantha was Amherst's Player of the Week for May 11 - 17 2026

The thirtieth recipient of the Angela Coniglio Memorial Scholarship, presented at the Amherst Central High School graduation on June 4, 2026, was senior Samantha Jacobia. She is the sister of the 2018 and 2021 recipients of the same award: respectively, Elizabeth and Katherine Jacobia. Samantha received an award of $2,838 provided through the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. In the thirty years of the scholarship, Amherst senior women have received a total of over thirty-three thousand dollars.

Samantha is a bright and motivated student who challenged herself with a most rigorous course load. She is intelligent, driven, and goal oriented, exemplifying the qualities of a scholar, leader, and humanitarian. Her intellect, initiative and empathy make her an outstanding student, but also someone poised to make a meaningful difference. The faculty describes her as one of the strongest leaders the school has ever had

     In Varsity Field Hockey, she was a five-year starter, 2021 – 2025 and earned: All State, 1st Team All WNY, 1st Team ECIC, MVP and Captain, 2025; Defensive MVP, 2nd Team ECIC and Club team Captain, 2024. In Varsity Softball, she was a four-year starter and in ECIC made Second Team MVP and Captain in 2025, and in 2026 made First Team in those categories. She won the 2024 Coaches Award in Basketball, and was a two-year participant and 2025 MVP in Unified Bowling.

     Samantha is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. On Amherst’s Youth Action Committee (2022 – 2026) she worked with students with disabilities. She participated in clubs and activities including the Spanish Club, American Sign Language Club, Captain’s Club, Math Club, and the Italian Exchange Club..

      She will study Epidemiology and continue her field hockey career at the University of Rochester.

Samantha also received the Engasser Scholarship and the Duke McGuire Award.
